A lot of you have received Eskayel related emails from Nick, and you always hear me mentioning we and us. I thought it would be nice to introduce those of us here on a daily basis at the Eskayel design studio in case you were wondering who we are.
Nick Chacona is my partner in Eskayel, he handles sales, book keeping and a multitude of general studio tasks, leaving the creative work up to me. He is my boyfriend, the cute bald headed guy manning the Eskayel booth at trade shows. Nick is also an amazing music producer and dj and has a music studio right next door to our studio. His first full length solo album came out earlier this year and while designing the cover art I was inspired to make our Love in the Middle wallpaper. His album is available on I-tunes or you can purchase the actual cd here.
Kaya is our pit bull. She likes to hang out either under the table with all the cords and speakers in the music studio, or on top of my desk with her face on my wacom tablet!
This is my favorite picture of me an nick outside our studio on Brodaway.
I have been noticing all these cute little flowered couches lately and it makes me think that a sofa upholstered with
Eskayel fabrics would be so beautiful. I might try to organize this for our ICFF booth.
These are from Pinch, Anthropologie, and even West Elm.
Recently our wallpaper and fabrics have been getting a lot of attention in the land of blogs and we are truly grateful! Maybe it is because I have been putting so much effort into our blog, which I hope is as wonderful as these some day!
Above is a dreamy combination put together by one of our clients, Jami Suspic, using one of our new Era Collection wallpaper patterns on her blog Affordable Decor. Another client, Jacinda Barrett, featured us on her BEAUTIFUL blog which features design, travel and fashion. We sold one of our new wall hangings to Chassity Evans of Look, Linger, Love and she was kind enough to blog about it and today we saw a post about Brooklyn designers on Andrea Sosa Fontaine’s blog which featured us along with some gorgeous designs by Andre Joyau, pictured below.
The Era Collection of wallpaper and fabrics is coming soon!!
FIAF is hosting this interesting event:

New York, NY 10022
Introduced by interior designer Robert Couturier
Carolle Thibaut-Pomerantz, specialist in the field of vintage wallpaper panels, introduces her recent book, Wallpaper: A History of Style and Trends. A renowned expert, she has dealt in late 18th century to 1950s wallpapers for the past twenty five years.
Thibaut-Pomerantz will present a series of beautiful visuals demonstrating how these small and large panels can be integrated into today’s lifestyle and settings. She will exhibit her wallpapers at the 2011 Park Avenue Armory Winter Antiques Show (January 21–30).
We have improved our online shop and our website to be more user friendly and we are excited to have added fabric, wall hangings, and sample books to the shop. We also have made trade and whole sale pricing available online for qualifying parties.
I have been working on organizing the photo shoot for the upcoming Era collection (2/01/2011) and am so excited to be shooting at RH Gallery and using some of the outstanding furniture from the designers they represent.
Katrina Vonnegut is a RISDI graduate and has been using dyes on wood and rope that compliment the way I use ink in my paintings, wallpaper and fabric, especially in the new collection. We will be photographing the new wallpaper patterns with her furniture as well as with some items from Fredrik Farg and Young Sook Park, also represented by RH Gallery. Katrina and I are also thinking about how we can collaborate using my fabrics as upholstery on a piece for Eskayel’s ICFF booth.
You can view Katrina’s new work January 18th at RH Gallery. Details are at the bottom of this post.
Young Sook Park
Our New York showroom, Studio Four, has a brilliant new website! Check out their impeccable selection of wallpaper, fabric and rugs. If you are in New York you must visit, Stacy, Kate, Soraya and David at the showroom which is gorgeous and where you can find all of Eskayel’s wallpapers and fabrics.
We are honored that Christine from the beautiful blog Bijou and Boheme chose to feature us as her Wednesday wallpaper this week!
Her posts are gorgeous and her sense of color is inspiring. Below are some of the photos she put together with Eskayel wallpaper for the post.
This is a great interview with Wendy Goodman, New York Magazine’s design editor and Design Hunting author on Brooklyn Modern. Wendy is totally immersed in the New york art world and has recently published and exquisite book called The World of Gloria Vanderbuilt. She also mentioned Eskayel as one of her many favorite Brooklyn based designers in the article!
