Each design is a large-scale artwork translated from an original painting which can be printed on wallpaper and hung as a large scale wall mural, or on fine Belgian linen to be used as engineered non-repeating window treatments or upholstery. Jamma II was designed from original artworks painted by founder Shanan Campanaro and artists Briana DeVoe White and Olivia Provey while working at the Eskayel Studio.
All of the artworks are original paintings from photographs of Morocco which showcase different versions of the same theme. The new designs reflect a softened interpretation of the geometric cityscape of Marrakech, with a palate inspired by both city and desert.
“The Jamaa series is all about the experience of being in lively Marrakech and the calm of the dessert in the High Atlas.”
“I wanted to convey the feeling of sitting upon cushions and rugs on the rooftop of a well appointed riad in Marrackech at dusk after a long hot day when the breeze finally cools you off and the pink glow of the city and the sunset are enjoyed with a cocktail.”
– Founder and Creative Director Shanan Campanaro
Jamaa 2 Rugs
Eskayel is proud to present a new collection of ten luxurious hand knotted rugs constructed in combinations of silk and a super soft merino wool, all exquisitely hand knotted in variety of different weave structures and pile heights.
Inspired by a recent trip to Morocco, the rug designs are derived from original artworks painted at the Eskayel Studio. The collection draws on the experience of being in the lively city of Marrakech and the calm of the desert near the High Atlas Mountains and translates this energy through the palette seen throughout each rug pattern.
