The Nonna's Lace Collection

Conceived on one of Shanan Campanaro’s recent visits to the Italian home of her ancestors, the Nonna's Lace collection is an array of watercolor lace patterns for wallpaper, fabric, and pillows. Shanan’s original aquarelle artwork – the basis for the patterns – began with an exploration of a vintage market and a growing interest in traditional lace. In reimagining the traditional forms through watercolor paint, Shanan played with positive and negative space to introduce a loose, more organic feel. The results are three duotone compositions that fuse artisanal design with bold graphic rhythm.

In a hand-painted pattern inspired by handmade textile heirlooms, Crochet Lace is a cheerful ink-wash micro-print featuring a constellation of flowers superimposed on a grid of squares.

Featuring a hand-cut and hand-finished triangle scallop edge, our new studio-designedNonna’s Lace is a round rug based on an original painting by Shanan Campanaro.Custom hand-knotted to order in Nepal in any size, its low-pile background in wool provides textural contrast with a high-pile pattern in wool and silk, lending a hint of shine and softness underfoot. Expect slight tonal variations as a hallmark of the artisanal process (as opposed to a defect) and lead times of four to six months.
